ReadTube (“ReadTube,” “we,” “us”) turns YouTube videos you choose into readable, chaptered essays with an AI co-reader. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, contact us at solesnip@gmail.com.

Information we collect

• Account information. When you sign in with Google we receive your basic profile (name, email address, and avatar) to create and identify your account.
• YouTube data (read-only). With your consent we use the youtube.readonly scope to read your channel subscriptions and the public metadata of videos (title, channel, publish date, thumbnail, captions) so we can turn them into reading. We never modify your YouTube account.
• Google authorization tokens. We store the OAuth access and refresh tokens Google issues so we can fetch your subscriptions on your behalf. They are kept only to provide the service and can be revoked at any time (see below).
• Content you create. The videos you add, the generated essays, your highlights, and your questions to the co-reader.

How we use your information

• To authenticate you and keep you signed in.
• To fetch videos from the channels you subscribe to and convert their transcripts into chaptered essays, summaries, and notes.
• To power the AI co-reader (notes, ask-anything, and connections).
• To operate, maintain, debug, and improve the service.

How your data is processed and shared

We do not sell your personal data or use it for advertising. We share data only with the service providers that make ReadTube work, acting on our instructions:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and storage for your account and content.
• Vercel — application hosting and delivery.
• Alibaba Cloud Model Studio (Qwen / DashScope) — the AI provider that processes video transcripts to generate essays, summaries, notes, and answers. Transcript text and your questions are sent to this provider to produce these results.
• Google — for sign-in and YouTube Data API access.

Google API Services — Limited Use disclosure

ReadTube’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data for advertising, do not sell it, and do not allow humans to read it except where required for security, to comply with the law, or with your explicit consent.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can:

• Revoke ReadTube’s access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing solesnip@gmail.com. We will delete it promptly.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Authorization tokens and personal data are stored in access-controlled systems and used only to provide the service. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Children

ReadTube is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
